    Building the Coop

    A beautiful day here in ATL got us pumped to build our coop! After a ton of research online, we decided on the Pets Imperial Green Ritz Chicken Coop.It’s currently unavailable on Amazon, but I will post a link if it becomes available (I think we bought the last one!). We are very pleased with the coop – it looks great and seems sturdy.     The Arrival

    We got the call! Our chickens have arrived and are peeping it up at the Decatur Post Office. The postal worker seems to share my joy, and my husband Seth begrudgingly joins in on the pick up journey. What luck is our good friend Dave Vann is with us to document the pick up event 🙂 I was sincerely worried the peeps may be sickly from travel – they are only a day old for goodness sakes.     The Chickens Are Coming!!

    We are waiting on our shipment of peeps and couldn’t be more excited.  We have everything we need for our little cheepers, I think: we have an aquarium with a lid, a heat lamp, cheep cheep food, and shavings. Darral, our 5 year old son, is tickled to pieces and can’t wait to meet his new charges – he’s taking care of them all by himself, he proudly states. We are getting two Barnevelders and two Easter Eggers. We are not really sure what these guys will look like when they arrive – will they be cute, yellow, and fuzzy? Will they be friendly?
