A&W Restaurants Inc. is looking to add a Content Marketing Specialist to the team! 

Summary

The Content Marketing Specialist works closely with the marketing team and other teams within the organization. This individual is responsible for online reputation administration, social media strategy and content, A&W’s email/SMS customer communication (MugClub) platform and website administration. This position reports to the VP of Marketing and Innovation and is located onsite in Lexington, KY. 

Essential Functions

  1. Oversees Social Media strategy and content to support the brand, including A&W’s company restaurants. 
  2. Manages MugClub calendar, messaging and sends including National sends and franchisee-requested messages for specific restaurants.
  3. Manages A&W’s online review platform and responds to guest feedback and updates restaurant information as needed. 
  4. Supports Franchise partners and Franchise Growth Leaders (A&W field team) by providing online feedback and excellent customer service to individuals on all organizational levels.
  5. Regularly reviews online reputation and social media insights. Provides actionable insights and reports for both marketing and operations team to review.
  6. Collaborates with other departments and publishes A&W’s email newsletter, The Newsbearer.
  7. Responds to comments on A&W’s national and local social media platforms. 
  8. Provides administrative support for awrestaurants.com and ensures updates like store openings and closings and LTO launches are made in a timely manner. 
  9. Manages A&W’s internal website, Team AW and provides support to the organization. 
  10. Creates blog posts and other content for awrestaurants.com.
  11. Works closely with the agency, VP of Marketing and others within the department to develop content and strategy for national campaigns. 
  12. Creates digital content through Photography and Videography. 
  13. Assists with National Root Beer Float Day and all collaborations with Disabled American Veterans (DAV). 
  14. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

This is a largely sedentary role while in the office; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a step ladder as necessary. All corporate employees will be asked to work in the company-owned restaurants at least two times a year for shifts lasting 4-9 hours. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. We offer a hybrid with 3 days in office per week required schedule; hours will fall between 7am and 7pm Monday-Friday, with some weekend and evening events required. The position would be expected to report to our Lexington, KY, headquarters. Schedules are subject to supervisor and/or Company approval. 

Travel

This position would require limited travel, with flexibility for developmental opportunities, state/regional meetings, or franchisee-owned restaurants. Travel would not exceed 10%. 

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business communications, or related field and at least 3+ years of experience in a professional marketing, communications, or social media role. 

Relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of formal degree

  1. Customer service experience
  2. Experience utilizing social media management, social listening, analytics and business intelligence platforms (ie. Meta Business Suite, TikTok, Tableau, etc.)
  3. Exceptional personal computing skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; advanced Internet research skills.
  4. Experience with WordPress/Drupal/other CMS

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Experience in restaurant and/or food service a plus.
  2. Knowledge of editing/marketing software such as: Constant Contact, Salesforce, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom.
  3. Knowledge of photography, videography, and/or other content creation tools a plus.
