Principal Data Modeler

Location: MN101 – 100% Telecommute

Work Hours: Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Project Summary:

seeking a hands-on Principal Data Analyst to support its Connecticut Enterprise Data Warehouse (CT EDW) within the Enterprise Datawarehouse and Analytics group. This role will work with large-scale healthcare data, translating business requirements into high-performing data models, and contributing to data strategy, governance, security, and analytics platforms supporting Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial lines of business.

Ideal Candidate Background:

• Proven experience as a Senior or Principal Data Modeler in the healthcare industry, specifically with Medicaid .
• A strong strategic mindset for developing data roadmaps and architectural visions.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setup and lead complex data initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver long-term strategic goals for data architecture and standards in partnership with data users and stakeholders.
• Lead initiatives for data modeling, data movement, and architecture enhancement to support a robust and scalable data warehouse.
• Build logical and physical data models and translate business requirements into technical solutions across the data lifecycle.
• Design and maintain data systems and data flows while ensuring regulatory compliance (HIPAA, PHI, PII).
• Oversee source-to-target mapping, metadata, and governance documentation to ensure data integrity and quality.
• Collaborate with ETL architects, SMEs, and business teams to design high-performance data marts and analytics platforms.
• Support data integration, data security, data quality, and metadata management strategies.
• Provide technical leadership throughout the implementation lifecycle and recommend innovative data solutions.
• Create testing criteria and documentation to maintain architectural fidelity and scalability.
• Drive best practices for enterprise-wide data modeling and architecture standards.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience using Erwin Data Modeler .
• Strong Data Modeling and Data Architecture experience with large-scale healthcare data systems.
• Expertise in OLTP, OLAP, MDM , dimensional modeling (star schemas, SCDs, etc.).
• Proficiency in SQL including advanced queries, stored procedures, DDL, DML, DCL, and query optimization techniques.
• In-depth knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare , and Commercial healthcare data .
• Experience in Data Governance , Data Security , Data Profiling , Metadata Management , and MDM .
• Strong understanding of HIPAA , PHI , PII , and healthcare security requirements.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Microsoft Azure services: Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Purview, Azure Maps, etc.
• Familiarity with Snowflake DBMS .
• Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau .
